What do people in Greater Manchester want from future services?

We spoke to the people of Greater Manchester to find out how future services can meet their health and social care needs.

Summary

When changes are being made to health and social care services, it’s vital that people have the opportunity to share their views to ensure that they will meet their needs.

Greater Manchester is experiencing significant change. As the first region in the country to take control of its combined health and social care budgets of over £6m, local decision makers now have the power to tailor services to meet the needs of its community.

To help inform this process, local Healthwatch helped run three workshops in Stockport, Oldham and Bolton to discuss what they want from future services in the region. These discussions focused on three areas - service integration, primary care services, and preventive health – and highlighted the challenges people currently face when accessing health and care, and the improvements they would like to see.
